Luke Watson

Born and bred in Port Elizabeth, Watson is a proud product of Grey High School where he excelled on the field at an early age. He represented EP at Craven Week in 2001and was recognised as a natural leader. He went on to captain the SA Schools XV (2001), SA U 19s (2002) amd SA U21 (2004).

After brief spells with EP and the Sharks XV on a senior level, Watson moved to Cape Town in 2005. He made an immediate impact at the union with a stellar Super Rugby run in 2006. He was made captain of WP later that year and the Stormers in 2007. Watson then joined English club Bath in 2009, where he took the leadership role ahead of then England captain Lewis Moody from an early stage during his two-year tenure.

The 28-year-old is currently the captain of the EP Kings, where he plans to contribute to the union’s pursuit of Currie Cup promotion and Super Rugby participation in 2013.
