Percy Montgomery
Born in Walvis Bay in Namibia, an early family move to South Africa saw Montgomery raised in Cape Town and developed through the ranks at SACS. He was a prestigious talent as a junior, making the Western Province Craven Week and SA Schools teams in 1992 and 1993 before being selected for the SA Tech XV in 1994.
He earned his provincial debut at 20 for Western Province, and attained 64 caps with the Cape union and 58 Super Rugby caps with the Stormers. He also spent two seasons with the Sharks in 2006 and 2007. Montgomery has also played five years of club rugby in Europe with the Newport Gwent Dragons in Wales (2003-2005) and Perpignan in France (2007-2008).
Montgomery boasts a prolific international record. He made his Springbok debut in 1997 against the British and Irish Lions, played 102 Tests and was part of the 2007 World Cup-winning squad. When he retired from Test rugby in 2008, he held 94 Springbok records.
The 37-year-old has spent recent years with the Springboks as a kicking coach and was part of their 2011 World Cup management. He is currently contracted until the end of December.
